Social engineering is a type of scam where someone tries to trick you into giving away personal information. Scammers often pretend to be from a trusted company like us and contact you by phone, email, or text. They use clever lies to get you to share things like passwords, security codes, or bank details.
How to Identify These Scam Emails:
-
Suspicious email addresses: These emails do not come from our official domain (i.e.,
@yapsody.com). Instead, they may use lookalike domains such as @yapsudy.com or
similar variations intended to deceive. - Fake website links: Scammers may use URLs that mimic our brand, including login page designs, etc, that would look identical but lead to phishing websites.
- Urgent or threatening language: Be careful with emails that pressure you to act quickly or risk losing access. These messages are designed to create panic so you respond without thinking. For example, you might get an email claiming your account is suspended and asking you to verify your details as part of a routine check. If you share your email and password, your information could be stolen.
What You Should Do:
- Do NOT click on any links or provide any personal information.
- By any chance, you do, please verify the URLs you are being directed to.
- Mark the email as spam in your inbox, and if available, click the “Report Phishing” option
to help your email provider take further action. - Do not provide account-specific details such as password, email address, etc, over the call or messages.
- Report the phishing attempt by forwarding the email to support@yapsody.com
