Yapsody allows event presenters to preview events and test booking processes before ticket sales start. Options include Event Preview for visual checks, Test Mode for full booking tests (recommended if no live sales), Access Management for testing with live events, and Private Links for private event testing. Test transactions can be refunded via Box Office. Support is available for guidance.
Before opening ticket sales, you can preview your event to see how it will appear to ticket buyers and test the booking and checkout process. This helps ensure your event is configured correctly before you make it available to the public.
Yapsody provides several ways to review and test your event, depending on whether you already have live events with ticket sales.
1. Preview Your Event
Yapsody allows you to preview your event and share a preview link with others before the event is published.
Steps to Preview Your Event
1. Select your event
Log in to your Yapsody account and select an existing event from your calendar, or create a new event.
2. Open the Event Setup Wizard
If you are working with an existing event, click Edit in the top-right corner to open the Event Setup Wizard.
3. Launch the Event Preview
After configuring your event or saving your changes, click Event Preview at the top-right of the screen.
4. Share the Preview
To share the preview with others, click the URL icon next to the Event Preview button to copy the preview link to your clipboard.
Preview Features and Limitations
Desktop and Mobile Preview
Use the device options at the top of the preview screen to switch between Desktop and Mobile views. This allows you to check how your event appears on different devices.
Ticket Purchase Limitation
You cannot complete a ticket purchase while viewing an unpublished event in Preview mode.
If you click Get Tickets, you will see a message indicating:
Tickets cannot be booked in Preview mode.
If you want to test the complete ticket booking and checkout process, use one of the testing options below.
2. Test the Complete Booking and Checkout Process
If you want to test the customer experience—including selecting tickets and completing checkout—choose the option that best fits your situation.
Option 1: Test Mode — Recommended
Test Mode allows you to experience the complete booking flow for both General Admission and Reserved Seating events before starting live ticket sales.
When your account is in Test Mode:
- Only events created under the Test Event – No Fee event category are visible.
- Previously published live events are hidden from your online store.
- A banner appears at the top of the store stating “Test Mode – Not Real Events.”
- You can test the ticket selection and checkout process without processing real customer sales.
Important: If you currently have active ticket sales on your online store, we recommend avoiding Test Mode because your live events will temporarily be hidden.

Option 2: Access Management — For Accounts With Live Events
If you already have live events with active ticket sales, you can use Access Management to test a new event without switching your entire account to Test Mode.
When you enable an access code:
- The event is restricted and requires the access code to be opened.
- General customers cannot access or purchase tickets.
- You can use the access code to test the complete booking and checkout process.
- Once testing is complete, disable the access code to make the event available to the public.

Option 3: Private Event With a Private Link
You can also make your event private by restricting ticket sales to the Box Office and creating a Private Link.
With a Private Link:
- The event will not appear on your public online store.
- Only people with the private link can access the event and purchase tickets.
- You can test the booking and checkout process without making the event publicly available.
Important: A Private Link takes you directly to the ticket selection page. It does not display the event description page.

Which Testing Option Should I Use?
Use the option that best matches your situation:
| Your situation | Recommended option |
|---|---|
| You don't have any live ticket sales | Test Mode |
| You already have live events with ticket sales | Access Management |
| You want to test a specific event without displaying it publicly | Private Link |
| You only want to check how your event page looks | Event Preview |
If You Completed Test Transactions
If you completed test transactions while testing your event, you can refund those transactions through the Box Office. Once refunded, the tickets can become available for sale again, depending on the event configuration.
