This guide explains how to connect and use Stripe Reader (M2) and Stripe Terminal (WisePOS E) with the YapSale app to accept in-person payments at your event.
Important (Please Read First)
- YapSale is supported on iPad devices only.
- Stripe Reader (M2) and Stripe Terminal (WisePOS E) can be used only when connected to the YapSale app on an iPad.
- iPhones, Android devices, laptops, and desktops are not supported for YapSale.
- You must have a Stripe account connected to Yapsody.
Important Device Support Note
The YapSale app has been tested by the Yapsody Product team using the following Stripe devices:
Stripe Reader (M2)
Stripe Terminal (WisePOS E)
Other Stripe Reader or Terminal models may behave differently.
Before purchasing any other Stripe device, we strongly recommend confirming compatibility with Stripe and Yapsody Support to ensure it works correctly with YapSale.
Understanding Your Devices
Before setting up, identify which Stripe device you are using. The setup steps differ.
Stripe Reader (M2)
The Stripe Reader M2 is a compact, mobile card reader that connects to your iPad via Bluetooth. It supports contactless (tap) and chip payments and is best suited for mobile or roaming ticket sales.
Stripe Terminal (WisePOS E)
The Stripe Terminal WisePOS E is a smart device with a built-in touchscreen. It connects to Stripe over Wi‑Fi or Ethernet and is registered using a pairing/registration code. It is ideal for fixed box office counters or entry gates.
Important Things to know:
Hardware: These steps apply to the Stripe Reader M2 and WisePOS E. View device specifications here.
Currency Support: Stripe Reader M2 & Stripe Terminal WisePOS E supports USD. Confirm other currency support directly with Stripe.
Location Setup: All locations must be created in your Stripe Dashboard under Terminal > Locations before they can be selected in YapSale. (If you haven't added a location in Stripe yet, click here for instructions)
Location Change: If a terminal is registered with Location CA, and you change the location in the YapSale app to Location NY, you will receive an error message. The app will require you to disconnect the device from CA before it can be moved to NY.
Device Limit: Only one reader or terminal can be used for payment at a time.
Section A: Connecting the Stripe Terminal (WisePOS E)
The WisePOS E connects using a pairing (registration) code. You can register it via YapSale (recommended) or the Stripe Dashboard.
Method 1: Register via the YapSale App (Recommended)
1. Open YapSale on your iPad.:
On your iPad, tap the Settings (Gear) Icon and select Configure Stripe.
2. Select Device Type:
- Tap the Terminal option and select Register Terminal.
- Note: Ensure your location is selected. (If you haven't added a location in Stripe yet, click here for instructions).
4. Enter Paring Code:
Enter the unique Registration/Pairing Code displayed on your terminal screen.
Note: If you do not have a code, refer to this guide on how to obtain a pairing code.
5. Identify Device and pair
Enter an optional Terminal Name (e.g., "Main Gate") to help you identify the device in reports. Select Pair from the list of available terminals.
Managing Terminal Details
Once paired, the device will appear under the My terminal section. To view more information about your connected Terminal, tap the Arrow (>) next to the device name. In your Yapsale App.
From this screen, you can monitor:
Terminal Name & Model: Confirms the specific hardware in use.
Battery Status: it will not display the battery status of the WisePOS E device.
Connection Status: Confirms if the Terminal is currently online and ready for payments.
Remove Device: If you need to unpair the Terminal, tap the Bin (Delete) Icon.
Method 2: Register via Stripe Dashboard
1. Access the Terminal Settings.
Log in to your Stripe Dashboard and navigate to Terminal, then click on Readers.
2. Initiate Reader Registration
Click on Register Reader at the top right of the page.
3. Enter the Pairing Details
Select the registration method as Pairing Code, then enter the pairing code and a device name (optional).
Section B: Connecting the Stripe Reader M2 (Bluetooth)
The Stripe Reader M2 connects to your iPad via Bluetooth and supports tap and chip payments.
Before You Pair
- Use an iPad only
- Enable Bluetooth on the iPad
- Ensure at least one Stripe Location exists
How to Pair the Reader
1. Turn on the Reader
Press and release the power button on the Stripe Reader M2. The status LEDs will light up.
2. Access YapSale Settings:
Open the YapSale app, tap the Settings (Gear) Icon, and select Configure Stripe.
3. Connect via Bluetooth:
Select the Card Reader option. The app will scan for available readers in your range.
4. Select Your Location:
Enable the Location Toggle and select your desired location from the dropdown menu. To know how to add Location click here.
5. Pair your Reader
Find your device (it will typically show the model and serial number) and tap Pair at the bottom of your screen under Available readers.
Managing Reader Details
Once paired, the device will appear under the My Readers section. To view more information about your connected reader, tap the Arrow (>) next to the device name.
From this screen, you can monitor:
Reader Name & Model: Confirms the specific hardware in use.
Battery Status: Displays the current battery percentage.
Connection Status: Confirms if the reader is currently online and ready for payments.
Remove Device: If you need to unpair the reader, tap the Bin (Delete) Icon.
