To use a Stripe Reader or Stripe Terminal with the YapSale app, you must first create Locations in your Stripe account.
Locations help Stripe and YapSale correctly associate in-person payments with the right venue or box office.
Important:
YapSale supports Stripe Reader and Stripe Terminal only on iPad devices. Other devices (Android phones, laptops, desktops) are not supported.
Why Stripe Locations Are Required
Stripe Locations are used to:
Register Stripe Readers and Terminals
Track in-person sales by venue or box office
Ensure devices work correctly inside the YapSale app
Each physical payment device must be linked to one Stripe Location.
Steps to add a Location in Stripe account.
Log In to Stripe: Access your Stripe Dashboard, Locate the Shortcuts tab on the left-hand menu and select Terminal.
Access the Locations Tab: Click on the Locations tab at the top of the page. If you have not added any locations yet, the list will be empty. Click the + Create Location button.
Enter Location Details: A prompt will appear asking for the following information:
Location Name: Use a clear name like “Main Entrance” or “Box Office – Hall A”. This name will appear in the YapSale app.
Phone Number (Optional): You may add a contact number for the specific location.
Address: Enter the full street address, city, and zip code for the venue.

Finalize: Once all details are entered, click Done in the bottom right Corner. Your location is now created and available for use in YapSale when pairing a Stripe Reader or Terminal.
Managing Multiple Locations (Important Rules)
If your organization has multiple locations, keep the following in mind:
One Location per Device
A Stripe Reader or Terminal can be registered to only one location at a time.
Location Mismatch Error
If:
Your device is registered to Location A, and
You select Location B in the YapSale app,
You will see this error:
“Please disconnect the terminal before switching locations.”
How to Switch a Device to a New Location
You must first Disconnect the device from the current location in the app settings. Then, select the new location and repeat the Registration Steps above to generate a new pairing code.
