Most ticketing platforms charge high service fees and payment processing costs that can significantly impact your event's revenue. With Yapsody, you can set up your event so that you pay $0 out of pocket by passing these costs on to your ticket buyers.
1. Pass the Yapsody Fee to the Purchaser
By enabling the "Passing on the Yapsody Fees " feature, the Yapsody service fee is added to the ticket price at checkout. This means the ticket purchaser pays the fee instead of you.
2. Cover Payment Processing Costs with a Surcharge
In addition to the Yapsody fee, payment gateways (like Stripe or PayPal) charge a transaction fee. To cover this cost, you can add a Surcharge to your tickets. You can set this as a flat fee or a percentage and label it as a "Payment Processing Fee."
How the Math Works: An Example
If you set a ticket price of $10.00 for a General Admission event in the US using a gateway like PayPal or Stripe, the breakdown looks like this:
Your Ticket Price: $10.00
Yapsody Fee: $0.77 (based on $0.59 + 1.75%)
Payment Processing Fee (Surcharge): $0.62 (based on 2.9% + $0.30)
Total Price Paid by Customer: $11.39
Note: -The above example is for a General Admission event, with the currency USD $ and the payment gateway selected as Stripe.
The complete amount i.e. (Your Ticket Price + Yapsody Fee + Payment Processing Fee = Total Ticket Price) will be deposited into your payment gateway account. We do not deduct our share (Yapsody fees) and transfer the complete amount to your payment gateway account.
As a result at the beginning of the following month, Yapsody will send you an invoice for the total service fees collected from your customers during the previous month. You simply use the funds already deposited into your account to pay the invoice.
Pro-Tips for Success
Match Your Gateway Fees: We recommend checking your specific payment gateway’s transaction rates. Set your Yapsody surcharge as a percentage that matches those rates to ensure your costs are fully covered. You can view supported gateways for your currency here.
Check for Exemptions: Yapsody does not charge fees for free events, test events, or complimentary tickets. View all fee exceptions here.
