We've added a new field, 'Ticket Limit Per Order,' which lets you set the 'Minimum' and 'Maximum' ticket quantities eligible for discounts when customers redeem discount codes.
Continue reading to learn how to set it up.
Before you start:-
- The option is limited to only General Promo Code and Single Use Code Discounts.
- This feature is pretty helpful for running promotions such as Buy 1 Get 1 Free ticket, Group Discounts (Limiting the discount to only the specified number of tickets for a group), etc
1) Begin with either selecting "General Promo Code" or "Single Use Discount Code" from the discount type drop-down list, to learn how we reach this page, please click here.
- General Promo Code – A General Promo Code can be redeemed multiple times.
- Single-Use Code – A Single-Use Discount Code generates unique codes and each code can be used only once, additionally, it also offers the flexibility of adding unique custom codes, these codes can be membership numbers, customer IDs, etc.
2) Next, under the Ticket Limit Per Order option, populate the fields Minimum and Maximum.
Notes:-
Minimum represents the number of tickets that must be added to the cart to qualify for the discount.
Maximum indicates the highest number of tickets eligible for the discounted rate in a single transaction.
For Instance:- We want to offer BOGO Tickets (Buy 1 GET 1 free), in this case, we will set the discount amount to "50%" (Fifty Percent) and populate both the fields "Minimum" and "Maximum" with 2.
By doing this, the discount code only works when a minimum of 02 tickets are added to the cart and a maximum discount of 50% would only be applicable for 02 tickets, resulting in a free ticket.
How would it work?
Scenario 1: Minimum Requirement Not Met
We've set a Discount Code (XYZ) that offers a "10%" discount and selected Restrict tickets "NO" however under the field Ticket Limit Per Order: Minimum 2 and Maximum 4 is recorded, as shown below.
We've set a Discount Code (XYZ) that offers a "10%" discount and selected Restrict tickets "NO" however under the field Ticket Limit Per Order: Minimum 2 and Maximum 4 is recorded, as shown below.
Now, if the ticket buyer adds only 01 ticket to the cart which is less than the specified minimum requirement, the discount will not be applied, and a message will be shown: "Minimum of 02 tickets required to redeem the discount."
Scenario 2: Within Minimum and Maximum Range
Here, if the number of tickets added to the cart is within the specified range of Minimum 02 & Maximum 04, the discount will be applied to all eligible tickets.
This means if the number of tickets added to the cart is between 02 to 04, all of them are eligible for the discount.
Scenario 3: Exceeds Maximum Limit
If the number of tickets exceeds the maximum limit, the discount will be applied only to the maximum allowed number of tickets. Any additional tickets will be charged at full price.
If the number of tickets exceeds the maximum limit, the discount will be applied only to the maximum allowed number of tickets. Any additional tickets will be charged at full price.
This means, if the number of tickets added to the cart is 05 but it exceeds the setup Minimum 02 and Maximum 04, the 05 (fifth) ticket wouldn't get any discount and would be charged the full ticket price.
Questions:-
1) Do the minimum requirement is met using the continue shopping feature will allow a discount, For instance, if the ticket buyer adds 01 tickets to the cart later he adds another ticket using continue shopping to meet the minimum requirement of 02 tickets.
Ans:- No, it wouldn't work.
2) Does it will override the setup of Restrict Tickets for both the discount types?
Ans:- No, since both the discounts restrict tickets work a little differently, follow the below example for better understanding.
General Promo Code:- We've set a Discount Code (XYZ) that offers a "10%" discount and selected Restrict tickets "01 (one ticket)" However under the field Ticket Limit Per Order: Minimum 2 and Maximum 4 is recorded.
As per the setup, the customer needs to enter a minimum 02 tickets into the cart, otherwise, he will get an error, upon adding the required number of tickets and applying the promo code, the discount would only be applied to only 01 (One ticket) and it would stop offering discount for future purchases too.
Single-Use Discount Code:- Since the single use-discount code offers the discount X (Multiple) the number of codes generated, considering the above setup, if the ticket buyer adds 04 tickets to the cart, he would get a discount only on 01 (one ticket), out of 04 tickets added to the cart, and the discount would keep functioning similarly until the all the generated codes are redeemed.
